search_sections has two modes. Ask your agent for a deep search, or set mode: "deep"; Instant is the default.

Deep: for any real brief

Deep takes a closer look and puts the best first. Use it whenever the brief is about how something should look:
  • A look or a mood: “quiet and architectural, lots of white, one big serif headline”.
  • What to avoid: “a pricing table, not dark”, “a hero without a gradient”.
  • Lookalikes: “navigation like stripe.com, but playful”.
  • Several constraints at once: “a feature grid for a developer tool, uneven cards, one with a code sample, monochrome”.
A Deep search takes about a minute and uses one Deep credit.
  • The same search again on the same day uses no further credit.
  • A search that can’t finish isn’t charged.
  • With no credits left, it runs as Instant, and says so.
  • Clients that stop waiting before a minute get its first results; the same search again returns the rest. Claude Code waits for the whole answer.
  • Deep needs a description to work from: a search with only contains, an empty q, or like runs as Instant and counts as one.

Instant: quick lookups

Instant answers in seconds (up to about 10 for a brief it hasn’t seen before). Use it for:
  • Text on the page: contains: "Book a demo".
  • A named site: “linear footer”.
  • Browsing: an empty q, optionally with roles or sites.
  • A kind of section with no particular look in mind.

Plans and limits

Agents come with Pro and Studio, and share the plan with the site.
  • Unused Deep credits expire with their month. 100 more Deep searches cost $25, on any plan, and last a year.
  • view_section, get_section and page_sections use no search; each section they open counts toward the day’s sections.
  • Past the per-minute pace, a search answers with how many seconds to wait.
